How long does planning permission last?
If your property development requires planning permission and you get planning approval to go ahead, this approval is typically granted for three years. This means that you must start work within this period or reapply. However, if you are unable to commence work on your project and the permission due date is fast approaching; you can apply for an extension. Extension however is not free and you will need to pay for it. Note that this is also subject to approval although the chance of a rejection is almost non-existent.
During this period, if you decide to make some changes to the approved plan, you can apply to do so, but because the plan has already been approved and go ahead given, you may be required to pay a fee.
